As a new business what did they need?

After months of planning, Boston Burger opened its doors in January, 2021 in the middle of the pandemic. Competition for takeaway food already fierce, competition with pop up ghost kitchens and the rise of expensive 3rd Party delivery apps didn’t fit with their vision. They wanted to find a way to serve their local community and remain completely independent and in control of their business.

Identifying the problem was key to their strategy.

The immediate issue to solve was the successful opening of the takeaway, quickly gaining a reputation for quality and delicious gourmet burgers, long queues began to form. Every order is cooked from fresh which meant customers having to queue for minutes at a time, place the order at the counter and return 15 minutes later to collect.

The popular lunchtime burger or hotdog was now a long winded affair, the owners Jamie and Patrick new they needed to find a way to continue to grow but also maintain customer satisfaction.

The initial enquiry was centred around the small eat in area, they rightly thought if they could implement an order and pay at table solution to relieve the pressure on team members and seated customers could order food without having to join the queue outside.

Business owners and staff members simply tap their sticker, order and pay and select the time they want to collect.

Each sticker out in the wild is named to the business, this way Jamie and Patrick can easily identify customers and through reporting build powerful special offers and loyalty flows unique to individual stickers.

The average spend per head has increased and over 50% of sales now attributed to their Sticky® ecosystem, they created!

Order Screens & Printers

Real time orders appear on any tablet or device connected to the internet, including a mobile phone.

Orders appear and remain onscreen until a team member taps and acknowledges the order as served with the oldest order always remaining on top.

Jamie and Patrick elected to purchase a tablet and fix to the wall in the kitchen area, they have also purchased a printer which blends with how their kitchen operates in busy periods.

The traditional approach of printing orders and tickets for the kitchen can easily be turned on in the Sticky dashboard.

Going further to get more customers

Having initially set up sticky® to combat the queue, it wasn’t long before the owners started to realise the potential of their Sticky® platform.

The introduction of an online link to the website, Google business (Update) and social media channels meant that they now reach new customers in their homes.

The success of publishing the online link combined with their local reputation has elevated sales, customers happily choose a time to collect orders and the business does not need to consider a delivery option. However, if a delivery channel was needed, Jamie and Patrick know they simply turn the facility on from their dashboard and commission free.

Sponsoring the local little league team

Limitless potential, Jamie & Patrick have sponsored their local little league football club and excited to distribute their stickers to every team player.

Parents and carers take the stickers home and not only will be able to order food directly from their team sponsors but take advantage of team discounts and loyalty programmes.

Jamie and Patrick have full control, they can create sticker actions that go beyond food ordering and create loyalty by bringing the club and coaches to update and post videos to the sticker channel.

We now have a click and collect system where customers can order and choose a time, they wish to pick up their order in-store. This has helped ease wait times, increase spend per head and generate customer loyalty. If we are busy, we can also customise our system to show alerts, delay orders and switch off products when out of stock.

Grays Court Hotel, how they used Sticky® contactless technology to enhance the garden bar order and pay at table, order Champagne room service and hotel bill payments when guests check out.

The vibrant and diverse history of Grays Court provides the opportunity to stay, dine and relax in a building that has seen knighthoods bestowed, played host to kings and has the privilege of being the only privately owned building in York with direct access to York’s City walls.

The garden bar is extremely popular with hotel guests and tourists visiting York, restrictions began to lift but the existing card machines posed an immediate problem with connectivity issues.

Grays Court Hotel hotel didn’t want an app or QR code alternative, they wanted their guest data to remain with the hotel and not with a third party provider. They also didn’t want guests to be frustrated with trying to download apps when trying to simply order food and drink.

Choosing Sticky® kept them firmly in the driving seat, in control with instant access to a scalable platform, enhancing guest experience, operations and hotel revenue.

How the hotel solved the problem with no app or QR code to scan.

Implementing stickers on the tables allowed guests to order and pay for food and drink, under 15 seconds.

Orders display on a tablet in the bar area and team members check off once the order has been been served. The hotel elected to have the orders on a tablet, but we do offer a direct to printer facility.

Orders can also display in designated areas such as food for the kitchen and drinks for the bar.

Table Service

To enable the hotel to open the Garden Bar and Summerhouse they needed a contactless payment solution.

Guests were now able to tap, order and pay for food and drink under 15 seconds without having to download an app or scan a QR code.

Not having to download an app, sign in, choose a location or re-enter card details to place an order enhanced the guest experience and increased food and beverage revenue.

Room Service

Within weeks the hotel purchased more stickers in preparation for the lifting of COVID restrictions.

Champagne stickers were placed in all 12 hotel rooms and suites, guests can now order Champagne and pay in just one tap.

This is a perfect fit for the bridal suites and guests wanting to celebrate while staying at the hotel.

Grays Court activated a number of stickers in the reception area and attached our take a payment flow. 

Guests were able to check out and pay the final bill without the need for a card machine. 

The receptionist simply sent the amount to a designated sticker, the the guest tapped and paid.

Buying Stickies

Every sticky has the same shape and size and people instantly recognise them. Our goal is to make stickies as recognisable and the mark something of that’s always quick and good!

What happens when a Sticky is tapped?

This is entirely up to you! Stickers can take payments, simply send the amount to the sticky and ask your customer to tap with their device or place around the premises on tables etc for your customers to tap, order and pay directly using their own devices.

For conferences and events you can attach to lanyards or information points inside or out as they’re weather resistant and pretty tough to remove!

Never worry about connectivity

Forget past experiences with problematic or accessible broadband or poor 3G signal rendering costly card machines useless. Your customer’s mobile phone is the connectivity and with no app to download creates a user experience like no other, taking payments on a sticky can’t be beaten on speed or price!

Top tips:

  • Include a clear “call to action”. People should know what will happen when they tap.
  • Keep it simple. Use simple graphics over long text.
  • Show off your brand; it’s what makes you unique. Stickies inherit your brand’s trust, so people are more likely to tap.

Virtual Stickers

All accounts are provided with a virtual sticker that can be posted your website and social media networks. Our free plan enables one flow which can be applied to multiple stickers.

Payment Links

Payment links are accessed via the Sticky® manual payments facility (ePOS) which is FREE and provides a till operating system for all your inventory and product management. Payment links are not charged any different to your standard pricing, example StickyPay 1% for debit cards and 2% for commercial and international cards.
